The VIPs attending the event included Mr. Do Thang Hai - Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, leaders of Quang Nam Province and leaders of ministries, departments, the German Embassy in Hanoi, and European Chamber of Commerce representatives. The BMW delegation included Mr. Paul de Courtois, Managing Director, BMW Group Asia, Mr. Miguel Llabrés Pohl - Regional Director, BMW Motorrad brand, and many other representatives. The THACO side were represented by Chairman Tran Ba Duong, CEO Nguyen Hung Minh and the Board of Management. More than 100 journalists from national news agencies attended the event in Ho Chi Minh City.

At the press conference, Mr. Paul de Courtois, Managing Director of BMW Group Asia, said that after careful evaluation of all prospects, THACO has been chosen as the new partner of BMW in Vietnam to distribute its 3 above-mentioned brands. Mr. Courtois stressed that THACO has met all criteria, and even exceeded a few.

The BMW Group Asia’s Managing Director elaborated that BMW selected THACO based on 5 criteria. Firstly, THACO has a strong leadership with Chairman Tran Ba Duong at the helm. Second, THACO has extensive experience and expertise in the Vietnamese auto market. Third, THACO demonstrates its financial strength and stability. Fourth, THACO has a strong retail network with more than 150 showrooms nationwide. Last but not least, it is the chemistry between THACO and BMW.

Mr. Courtois added: BMW's 2018 target in Vietnam is through its new distributor THACO, BMW will consolidate and rebuild the BMW brand. "After a challenging 2017, BMW Group Asia is excited and eager to start a new chapter in Vietnam with THACO. We are committed to rebuilding the BMW and MINI brands in Vietnam in close collaboration with THACO. With THACO’s extensive experience in the automotive industry, we are confident we’ll be able to strengthen our existing relations and build new ones in the coming years. "

Mr. Miguel Llabrés Pohl, Regional Director of BMW Motorrad Brand, said: "As Vietnam is the second largest motorcycle market in Southeast Asia, BMW Motorrad is very excited for the opportunity to tap into this growing market and to further grow the existing BMW Motorrad community throughout Vietnam."

THACO acquired, and is operating, the current BMW and MINI service centres in Hanoi and HCMC to ensure no service disruptions for existing customers.

After the press conference, the Relaunch Ceremony of BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad brands distributed by THACO in Vietnam was organized with the participation of more than 400 distinguished guests. During the ceremony, the magnificent music program featuring top Vietnamese singers such as Hong Nhung, Dam Vinh Hung, Ho Ngoc Ha, Tuan Hung, and the Unlimitied band offered impressive and unique performances,  bringing a surprisingly exciting audio-visual feast to all the participants, together with the impression of BMW as one of the world’s most distinctive and luxury brands. The brilliant performances were the special present that BMW and THACO wanted to offer to the participants.
