National-level acceptance test of the Vietnamese branded high-end sleeper bus design and manufacture project
The project "Vietnamese branded high-end sleeper bus design and manufacture project" is chaired by THACO, approved by Ministry of Science and Technology on 29 March 2013, and implemented from December 2014 to May 2017. The project includes 3 topics and 1 pilot production project. After completing 3 topics: Research on Vietnamese brand high-end sleeper bus design; Thermoplastic manufacturing technology and equipment for plastic interior details on high-end sleeper buses; Conversion manufacturing technology and equipment for composite exterior details on high-end sleeper buses, THACO carried out the pilot production of the Vietnamese brand high-end sleeper bus.
After more than 2 years of implementation, the project has achieved the objectives of science, technology and socio-economic, and is ranked Excellent. After the project, THACO has mastered new technology to design and calculate new demos in auto manufacture; technology to design and calculate high-end composite and plastic details in autos generally and passenger cars specifically; Improved conversion technology to manufacture composite components; Enhance technology to manufacture premium plastic components, ... in ASEAN level. Accordingly, the company will shorten the auto design and manufacture level with the world, especially ASEAN and South Korea. The product in the project is the Vietnamese brand high-end sleeper bus with more advanced and optimal technology, increased quality and aesthetics. With this project, THACO has also developed highly-trained engineers in auto design, plastics and composite and professional technicians in auto manufacture and assembly.
The project has great practical significance: developing high-quality sleeper bus production promotes the development of the automobile industry and other industries such as mechanics, plastics, composite, electricity - electronics, rubber, etc. to serve the development strategy for Vietnam automobile industry, ensuring the localization rate of over 40% to qualify for export to ASEAN countries from 2018 with the tax rate of 0%; increasing the quality, use values, and economic efficiency of Vietnamese brand sleeper bus, meeting the requirements to improve the quality of inter-provincial long-distance and trans-Asia passenger transport, increasing the long-distance passenger transport by over 80%. After the project is accepted, THACO will carry out production, continue to research and develop new materials and technology for exterior and interior details of the sleeper bus; Standardize the components and accessories of passenger cars to improve the activeness in providing spare parts for after-sales services; Research and develop interior materials for other THACO passenger car products; At the same time apply the technology for light trucks, passenger cars, etc.
