Vietnam General Confederation of Labor delegation visits THACO
At the meeting with THACO on Mar. 27, Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) Nguyen Dinh Khang said that THACO meets all the criteria to establish its trade union directly under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
Welcoming the delegation was THACO Chairman Tran Ba Duong, THACO Standing Vice Chairman Nguyen Hung Minh and Mr. Nguyen Van Kim Lan, Chairman of THACO Grassroots Trade Union.
THACO is currently housing 60,000 employees, of which 30,000 are working in Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar. THACO Party Cell belongs to the Party Committee of Dong Nai Business Sector with 6 branches and 147 party members. Particularly, THACO Trade Union has 15,252 members, with grassroots trade unions at its 6 sub-holdings and unions at 103 representative offices, factories, and companies in the province.
Over the years, THACO Trade Union has been under the comprehensive leadership of its Party Cell, constant support from the Group's leadership, and timely direction of the Labor Confederation of Dong Nai Province. The unit has been highly appreciated by the Dong Nai Labor Federation for benefiting employees and the corporation, contributing to its overall development.
THACO Standing Vice Chairman Nguyen Hung Minh also shared that the firm always pays attention to and closely follows the housing needs of employees, typically, the worker housing area in THACO Chu Lai Industrial Park in Quang Nam Province or in the agricultural complexes, the company has been building housing clusters, entertainment complexes, convenience stores for employees to take care of their well-being and living standards.
Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang highly appreciated THACO leadership's concerns in the organization of the Party, socio-political units in its business as well as taking care of employees and the community. The chairman affirmed THACO's experience in building the utility model at the complexes will be a good example to be multiplied in industrial parks, as in places, businesses still do not pay enough attention to employees' accommodation and living standards or well-being. Besides, the establishment of a trade union directly under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in THACO will even help the business to gain better and more efficient operations.
Speaking at the meeting, THACO Chairman Tran Ba Duong said, during THACO's development, the company has been focusing on building a model of contribution and service, sustainable production and business, and corporate social responsibility. In particular, the development of trade union is very important. If THACO does it well, it will create certain values and standards for the business community. “I am very excited and fully support this plan. And THACO will be the pioneer in accompanying the orientations of the Vietnam Party and the Vietnam Confederation of Labor and will try our best to build this model” emphasized the THACO Chairman.
The two sides also agreed to have relevant departments develop the project and the detailed plan to quickly establish the trade union directly under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor at THACO
