THACO AGRI develops industrialized workforce in agriculture
To establish a large-scale, integrated, and circular agricultural model, THACO AGRI is bolstering its workforce through recruitment, training, and cultivating a professional work environment.
As of today, THACO AGRI has a workforce of more than 19,200 employees working across Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. This includes a technical team of over 1,100 individuals specializing in cultivation and livestock farming, representing 5.7% of the total. Additionally, over 980 employees, or 5%, were transferred from THACO Chu Lai and other affiliated companies.
To enhance employee qualifications and meet production demands, THACO AGRI is proactively developing an industrial human resources strategy for agriculture, which includes expanding expert recruitment, optimizing HR policies, and fostering local talent development.
Building “creativity, technical mindset and discipline” among the agriculture workforce
Specifically, the Group seeks to develop a workforce possessing creativity, a technical mindset, and discipline. Employees will be evaluated based on their ability to continuously improve, think critically, and apply scientific management principles. Furthermore, a culture of discipline rooted in agricultural values, such as diligence, hard work, and a commitment to crops and livestock, is key.
In conjunction with established standards, the Group has developed a comprehensive human resource development plan. The transfer of industrial personnel from THACO Chu Lai to various units has facilitated knowledge sharing and skill enhancement. For leadership positions, the Group has implemented a phased development approach, focusing on identifying and nurturing potential leaders through domestic and international training programs. Furthermore, its collaboration with THACO College has led to the training of nearly 180 internal lecturers, enabling the Group to deliver in-house training programs efficiently.
In addition, THACO AGRI partners with 15 domestic universities to recruit and host interns specializing in Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine. This initiative aims to develop the next generation of professionals by providing them with skills, in-depth knowledge, critical thinking, and digital proficiency.
One key strategy to enhance the human resources team is to recruit international experts from the Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, and other countries, in addition to local talent. This will facilitate the advancement of technology, product development, and infrastructure, with a particular focus on training and transferring cultivation and livestock techniques.
Worker’s well-being is continuously improved
Besides competitive salaries and a strong corporate culture, a positive work environment is essential for retaining employees. THACO AGRI places a high value on creating a 'Cultural-Convenient' workplace to encourage long-term employee engagement and dedication. This is a fundamental component of its overall strategy.
Prior to THACO AGRI's takeover, employees in the Complexes endured difficult living conditions in makeshift accommodations. Recognizing the need for improvement, the Board of Directors prioritized the construction of new facilities and enhanced living standards for workers.
THACO AGRI has made significant investments in employee welfare by recently providing more than 2,600 homes to staff at Koun Mom and Snuol complexes (Cambodia), Ia Puch Cattle farm (Vietnam), and HAGL AGRICO complex (Laos). The company has also constructed convenience stores, canteens, vegetable gardens, clean water systems, and soccer fields. The initiatives, combined with competitive salary and bonus structure, demonstrate THACO AGRI's commitment to the overall well-being of the workforce.
THACO AGRI is also committed to developing local human capital by recruiting, training, and upskilling workers, employees, and specialists. These efforts help alleviate unemployment, increase the local workforce, and drive socio-economic progress. Meanwhile, the company supports community development through free primary-school classes, playground construction, and donations of clothing and school supplies, as well as organizing holiday celebrations for Cambodian children.
With a recruitment target of nearly 11,500 employees in the second half of 2024, THACO AGRI is establishing a solid foundation by gradually shifting employee awareness and lifestyle towards an agricultural focus. This cultural transformation is designed to strengthen employee belief in the Group's mission and inspire their professional development.
