THACO attends awards ceremony of 1st Integrated Circuit Design Competition for Smart Cities
In celebration of the Vietnam Science and Technology Day, the final round and awards ceremony for the 1st Integrated Circuit (IC) Design for Smart Cities competition were capped off on May 18. The event, organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Hi-Tech Park Management Board alongside local universities and government departments, was attended by Mr. Nguyen Tan Duc, THADICO's Deputy Director of the Urban Area Investment and Development Department.
Launched in November 2023, the IC Design for Smart Cities competition aimed to identify innovative IC designs applicable to Ho Chi Minh City's development plans. The competition sought to promote investment in smart city infrastructure and contribute to the growth of the city's microchip talent pool and overall semiconductor industry.
The competition selected five outstanding projects, each meeting rigorous criteria for creativity, practical application, and potential for development. These projects showcased innovative solutions for smart city challenges, including "Designing a low-noise Analog Front-end chip" (University of Natural Sciences) to improve the way sensors send signals using 180-nanometer chip technology, and "Design of hardware to remove fog in smart camera images" (Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education).
THACO is forging a strong partnership with Ho Chi Minh City National University system to develop a highly skilled workforce, particularly in technology fields. This collaboration aims to identify practical technological solutions that contribute to social and economic progress, ultimately supporting the creation of smart and sustainable cities.
