THACO supports VND5 billion to build charity houses in Dien Bien
To celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Battle, on May 13, the Vietnam Fatherland Front launched the charity house campaign for poor households in Dien Bien Province, northern Vietnam, named "Millions of hearts - Thousands of happy families".
Attending the program were the Vietnam President Vo Van Thuong, leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, central ministries and local agencies. On behalf of THACO, President Pham Van Tai attended the event and presented the company's commitment to build 100 charity houses in the province worth VND5 billion.
In total, the organizations, businesses and individuals who were attending have pledged to rebuild 7,000 to 8,000 charity houses from May 7, 2023 to May 7, 2024 for poor and near-poor households in Dien Bien and Northwestern Vietnam, worth VND50 million per house.
Dien Bien is one of the mountainous provinces in Northwest Vietnam which is facing many difficulties, e.g. poor infrastructure, thousands of poor households still have to live in temporary unstable and broken houses, plenty still lack basic living standards, such as clean water, electricity, lighting, schools, healthcare, etc.
Speaking at the program, the Vietnam President stressed, "The campaign is a nice deed which manifests the humanity, kindness, practical help and support, responsibility and gratitude to the ethnic people in the land where our ancestors have made great sacrifices and contributions, even their lives, for the Fatherland."
