THACO Marathon: For Traffic Safety 2024 in Dien Bien Phu
The National Traffic Safety Committee joined forces with Dien Bien Provincial Committee, Traffic Newspaper, and the General Department of Sports and Physical Training under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to host the THACO Marathon: For Traffic Safety 2024 in Dien Bien Phu on April 14.
Held in Dien Bien Phu, the THACO Marathon: For Traffic Safety 2024 commemorates several milestones: the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954), the 115th anniversary of Dien Bien Province's founding (June 28, 1909), National Tourism Year 2024, and Traffic Safety Year 2024.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Head of the marathon's organizing Committee, Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee Mr. Vu A Bang said: "Beyond the race itself, the THACO Marathon serves as a platform for athletes to connect, share experiences, and build camaraderie. It also fosters patriotism among the younger generation by promoting national pride and expressing deep gratitude to the martyrs who valiantly defended Vietnam's freedom."
The 2024 THACO Marathon attracted nearly 2,300 domestic and international runners, both professional athletes and fitness enthusiasts.

Participants competed across five distances: 5km, 10km, 21km, 42km, and a challenging 70km. Notably, THACO AUTO Son La employee Ms. Nguyen Thi Nham achieved a fifth-place finish in the 21km race.
The fifth-place finisher shared: "Finishing fifth in the 21km race is a huge accomplishment for me as I pushed myself beyond my limits and conquered a new challenge. Running is really meaningful – it improves my health and keeps me pushing myself. I'm grateful for the enthusiastic support of my friends and colleagues, but most importantly, I want to thank myself for never giving up."
The THACO Marathon embodies the company's commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle and also serves as a platform to champion the message "Traffic Safety - Happiness for Every Family" by raising awareness of traffic regulations and encouraging responsible behavior on the roads, contributing to a reduction in traffic accidents.
