Vietnamese journalists join MAZDA’s Asia Technology Forum in Japan

At the forum, participants were introduced to the development and application of Skyactiv-X technology to enhance engine efficiency, reduce fuel consumption, emissions, and increase drivers’ comfort on Mazda cars.

In Skyactiv-X technology, the Skyactiv-X engine is a superior combination of gasoline engines and diesel engines. It is noteworthy that the compression ignition technology uses a mixture of gasoline, the air is compressed at extremely high pressure to self-ignition by the flame balls that appear in the combustion chamber at the end of the compression process. This helps greatly improve the key performance indicators. Many automakers have pushed their research towards this direction, but Mazda has made more breakthroughs for practical use.

In the study, Mazda has increased the air / fuel ratio inside the combustion chamber to a great extent, and the ideal ratio was 14.7: 1. A supercharger was equipped to compress more air into the combustion chamber. This requires more complex and precise technique than the previous engines.

In terms of overall car design, Mazda is tuned to the next-generation Skyactiv-Vehicle Architecture with adjustments of car seats, body, chassis, tires, etc. to ensure people can naturally gain their relaxation and balance inside the car, even in turnings. In addition, the Skyactiv-Vehicle Architecture enhances the acoustics of the interior, eliminating unpleasant background noise and vibration by researching human hearing alongside with the improved suspension which allows smoother car operation.

The Skyactiv-X engine and the next-generation Skyactiv-Vehicle Architecture promise to give drivers more comfortable and enjoyable rides as indicated by the Jinba Ittai philosophy – human and car are one. Mazda is expected to commercialize its new lineup in 2019.
