Prime Minister visits THACO Chu Lai Industrial Park
On February 8, 2025, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his delegation paid a working visit to THACO Chu Lai in Quang Nam. Accompanying the delegation were representatives from various central ministries and Quang Nam Province.

During the meeting, THACO Chairman Tran Ba Duong reported on the group's business performance in 2024 and their plans for 2025. After more than two decades of development, THACO Chu Lai has become a hub for mechanical manufacturing and supporting industries, a logistics center for central Vietnam, and a key player in container shipping for Northern Cambodia, Southern Laos, and Vietnam’s Central Highlands. In 2024, THACO Chu Lai launched the 50,000-DWT berth, the project assigned by the Prime Minister during his visit two years ago in March 2022. The company also invested in new factories, particularly the R&D center with 1,000 engineers and comprehensive testing equipment, adhering to international standards.

In 2025, THACO will continue its big investments in the automotive, mechanical manufacturing, and supporting industries, aiming to boost exports. In logistics, THACO plans to acquire two new container ships, 1,800 TEU each, to operate shipping routes from Chu Lai to ports in Xiamen and Shanghai (China), North China, South Korea, Japan, Europe, and the US. The firm will also invest in the Cua Lo channel to reduce logistics costs in central Vietnam in line with costs in northern and southern Vietnam, attracting small and medium enterprises to the central region.

“Mr. Prime Minister’s directives from the 2022 visit to THACO have been the goal and motivation for our development. During this visit, receiving your New Year greetings, the entire THACO team is very excited. We are committed to continuing to make new business achievements, contributing to the local and national economy,” emphasized Chairman Tran Ba Duong.

After touring the THACO Chu Lai Industrial Park and hearing the report, the Prime Minister praised and highly appreciated the achievements of the Group. Since his previous visit two years ago, THACO has produced a diverse range of products with higher quality, greater localization rates, lower costs, and increased competitiveness. These were achieved by its increase in technology application, automation, and digitization in production, contributing to the socio-economic development of Quang Nam province. The Prime Minister stressed: The most impressive thing that THACO has done is to invest in a research and development (R&D) center, something that not many businesses do systematically. THACO has created jobs for people across the country, made significant contributions to the national budget, fulfilled social responsibilities, and promoted innovation and industrialization.

In the coming period, the Prime Minister requested THACO to be a pioneer in innovation, accelerating and making growth breakthroughs, comprehensiveness and sustainability in development, promoting digital transformation, green transformation, creative economy, ensuring clean and green environment, and doing better in social welfare work.
Simultaneously, the Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Transport to immediately handle procedures related to the Cua Lo channel project for 50,000-ton ships to enter Chu Lai Port and asked Quang Nam authorities to handle land allocation and other related works for THACO, ensuring practicality, legal compliance, transparency, and eliminating waste.
The Prime Minister also suggested THACO research and transfer technology to manufacture high-speed railway carriages and expected that the Group will achieve higher performance and efficiency in all aspects, contributing to Quang Nam’s goal of 10% growth and 8% nationwide in 2025. He emphasized: “We are truly proud, impressed, and confident in THACO.”

On this occasion, the Prime Minister and his delegation also visited and presented gifts to staff at THACO and Sub-holdings, encouraging their continuous efforts in the new year.
