This is the first batch in the bus spare part export contract to Kazakhstan and CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States). Under the contract, from now through the end of 2017, THACO will continue to export 30 sets of bus spare parts to Kazakhstan and 200 sets in 2018.

From the partner's perspectives, the current demand for public transport in Central Asian countries is rising, but the transport vehicles in such countries in the region have not met the demand. This poses a challenge for manufacturers in Kazakhstan, but also opens up opportunities for joint venture cooperation with foreign partners to meet domestic and export market requirements. After thorough research, the partner has decided to cooperate with THACO Bus to import bus components. These sets will be assembled with chassis imported from South Korea into complete bus products, and distributed to other countries in the region such as Russia and Belarus.

According to Mr Nguyen Quang Bao, Director of THACO Bus, these bus components are manufactured on modern, highly-automated technology lines with equipment imported from Japan, Italy, South Korea, under the quality management system of international standards, meeting the quality standards of Hyundai worldwide.

After exporting the components, THACO will send engineers to HTA plant in Kazakhstan to support equipment installation, instruction and training, assembly and quality control under the technology transfer contract signed between THACO and HTA on 01/02/2017. Previously, in May 2017, THACO also exported a set of Main Jig - bus body welding equipment to HTA.

Mr Pham Van Tai, THACO Deputy General Director said: "With the aim at active integration into free trade agreements, in recent years, THACO has invested in the development of auto manufacture and assembly, supporting industries in the direction of increasing the technological content and localization ratio, step by step realizing the global value chain strategy through the export of standardized vehicles and spare parts. Although the export volume stays small, this is an opportunity for THACO to enter new markets with its technology, thus creating a premise to boost export in the coming time, contributing to the development of the supporting industries".

In recent years, THACO has also exported many components manufactured in Chu Lai - Truong Hai Automobile Mechanical Industrial Park to South Korea, Malaysia, Russia, Kazakhstan and Colombia, etc. including: bumpers, KIA electric wire and car seats, components of specialized vehicles, semi-trailers, leaf springs, bus components, composite components, industrial molds, etc.
