THACO provides funds as emergency relief for storm and floods victims in central Vietnam

Typhoon Damrey made landfall early November, wreaked havoc in central and Central Highlands provinces, killed more than 100 people and left dozens others unaccountable for. The worst hit provinces were Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, and Quang Nam. The storm and floods triggered by it have swept away lots of houses and properties of residents, with losts estimated at billions of Vietnam dong.
Embracing a CSR spirit, THACO’s Executive Committee and Trade Union launched an appeal for emergency assistance in which each staff donated one-day wages, raising funds of VND2.5 billion. In addition, THACO itself made another donation of VND2 billion. The total of VND4.5 billion will be allocated as followed: VND2 billion to Quang Nam province (VND1 billion for the floods victims, and the other VND1 billion for the needy), VND1 billion to Khanh Hoa province, and the remaining VND1.5 billion to Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, and Thua Thien Hue provinces (VND500 million each).
This time last year, THACO also raised funds of VND6.2 billion from all staff’s one-day wages and the company’s welfare funds, as the emergency relief for floods victims in central Vietnam.
THACO’s CSR activities not only show its social responsibilities but also an illustration of humanity – a Vietnamese tradition. It generally shows support and care for people affected by natural disasters.
