In 2015, THACO gained an impressive growth with 80,421 vehicles sold, up 90% compared to the same period of 2014 (42,339 vehicles), especially its powerful growth in passenger cars (Kia, Mazda, and Peugeot) with 42,314 cars sold, up 100% compared to the same period of last year (20,708 cars). Particularly, in December 2015, the sales volume of passenger cars reached 5,500 cars, up 87% compared to the same period of last year leading the passenger car market in Vietnam. This is the fourth consecutive month in 2015 THACO has maintained this position.
Kia brand: Kia sold 21,310 cars in 2015, up nearly 100% compared to 2014. In December 2015, Kia reached the record in monthly sales with 2,800 cars sold. This is the fourth consecutive month Kia has sold more than 2,000 cars making it the second position in sales among passenger car companies in 2015.
Kia Morning, Rio, K3, New Sorento, and Sportage had the highest sales in 2015. Particularly, Morning sold 8,376 cars, up 87% compared to the same period of last year, affirming its leading position in the A segment and becoming the best selling sub-compact car in the market, followed by K3 with 4,332 cars sold, up 26% compared to the same period of last year (3,451 cars). The sales volume of CKD in 2015 was at 4,719 cars, up 340% compared to the same period of 2014. In particular, Kia Rio was the best-selling car among CKD with 3,951 cars, up more than 500% compared to the same period of last year.
Mazda brand: 2015 was a great year of Mazda in Vietnam with 20,359 cars sold, up 116% compared to the same period of 2014. Mazda’s success in sales was contributed by the breakthrough of Mazda models new generation equipped with advanced SkyActiv technology including Mazda2, Mazda3, CX-5, Mazda6 and the powerful attraction of pick-up BT-50. In particular, Mazda3 sold nearly 3,000 cars, Mazda CX-5 sold nearly 5,000 cars, and Mazda BT with more than 4,000 cars sold in 2015.

Especially, in last December, Mazda gained a dramatic growth of 126% compared to the same period of 2014 with more than 2,700 cars sold. This is the highest month in sales since Mazda’s appearance in the market. Particularly, Mazda3 is still the best-selling car among Mazda models in Vietnam with approximately 800 cars sold, up 190% compared to the same period of 2014. It was followed by Mazda CX-5 with 651 cars sold, up 91% compared to the same period of last year. Mazda2 reached the third position in December with the sales of seven times as large as the same period of last year (452 cars).
Peugeot brand: Returning to Vietnam market for two years, Peugeot has introduced to customers a wide range of products of different segment including 208, 308, 408, 508, 3008, RCX and quickly created strong attraction. Its sales in 2015 reached 544 cars, four times as large as that of 2014; and this is the highest growth rate in Vietnam auto market. With its achievement last year, Peugeot gained impressive success in Vietnam market. THACO believes that, with a wide range of products and showroom system nationwide, more than 1,000 cars will be chosen by customers in 2016.
