THACO Achieves FUSO Truck & Bus License and Distribution Agreements in Vietnam

Among the VIPs at the signing ceremony in Hanoi December 1, 2017 were Mr. Do Thang Hai - Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr. Le Dinh Tho - Deputy Minister of Transport, Mr. Pham Cong Tac - Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, Mr. Le Van Thanh - Vice Chairman of Quang Nam People's Committee. Others included with leaders of ministries and Quang Nam province, editor-in-chiefs, and correspondents of more than 70 newspapers.
Present at the event were Mr. Michael Kamper, MFTBC Vice President, and executives of Daimler Truck Asia, who represented Daimler, the holding company of MFTBC. Meanwhile, on behalf of THACO, Mr. Tran Ba Duong - Chairman, Mr. Nguyen Hung Minh - General Director, and THACO Executive Committee attended the event.

To date, THACO is considered as the largest automobile manufacture and assembly company which has the most used trucks and buses in Vietnam. On the other hand, finding Vietnam as a potential market and also a crucial one among ASEAN countries, Daimler has actively expressed its wish to cooperate with THACO. The two sides exchanged views on their business philosophy, vision, strategy, strengths, and initially finalized with an agreement of technology transfer and vehicle distribution for Fuso trucks and buses in Viet Nam. Accordingly, THACO will receive the entire Fuso bus business in Vietnam from Mercedes-Benz Vietnam (MBV), including: bus equipment, products, spare parts, personnel, dealer system, have the responsibility for inheriting after-sales services such as warranty, repair, spare parts supply for customers who have owned Fuso trucks and buses in Vietnam, and organize Fuso sales operations from January 1, 2018.

At the program, THACO General Director Nguyen Hung Minh and Mr. Michael Kamper made the signing. Under the deals, THACO takes over the production and assembly of all types of Fuso trucks, Rosa bus models, and uses main engines and spare parts to manufacture and assemble other buses, while manufacturing localized vehicle parts up to the standards of the Japan’s Mitsubishi Fuso and Germany’s Daimler.

Speaking at the event, THACO Chairman Tran Ba Duong said that the signing ceremony was a milestone for THACO's subsequent development of the truck and bus business by cooperating with world-renowned Daimler and Mitsubishi Fuso to reach the target of exporting vehicles to ASEAN countries with the localization rate of 40% and the tariff of 0%.
