Rehearsal of Oil Spill Responding Acts at Chu Lai - Truong Hai port


The drill was the oil spill caused by technical errors during oil pumping (from the parking ship at Chu Lai - Truong Hai port) to the oil tank which breaks the pipe. At the same time, oil pumping valve was also broken, making an influx of FO oil to An Hoa Cove. The oil spill was out of the responding acts at the spot and bore great threats to the surrounding environment.


At once, Chu Lai - Truong Hai Port carried out the responding acts, at the same time alerted the Command of the Border Guards, Maritime Administration, and the authorities to demand for security forces at An Hoa Cove, timely notify and prevent ships from entering the affected area. A big force was mobilized with supporting specialized equipment to timely clean the oil spill in a technical way, prevent fire explosion and minimize oil spill onto the sand, mangroves, and fisheries. Later, there was cleaning of oil spill on the shore and around the port, etc. The scenario also practiced the emergency aid for the injuries during the oil rescue.



After nearly 3 hours of responding, the functional authorities controlled the entire sea area with oil spills and fixed the technical errors leading to oil spill. The authorities evaluated that the rehearsal was implement according to the required aims and request, ensuring complete safety to humans and properties; the units were assigned quickly and precisely as per the scenario. The oil spill removal was implemented as per technical requirements.
