The project of pilot manufacture of Vietnam sleeper buses is a scientific and technological task of the national project "Research for designing and manufacturing high-end sleeper buses in Vietnam" done by THACO, approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology on 29 March 2013 and implemented from January 2015.

After over a year of implementation, the project has fulfilled its objectives, in which THACO research focused on chassis design and new designs, while improving technology processes VARTM & CSM, thereby mastering the technical design of interior and exterior of the vehicle as a prerequisite for the construction of the new composite plant. At THACO bus plant, THACO continues to upgrade machinery to complete technology to manufacture and assemble sleeper buses. The project's finished products of the project is high-end sleeper buses with technical - technology features, better quality and aesthetics than the previous version. The project is ranked excellent by the National Scientific Project Acceptance Council.

The project has an immensely scientific and practical meaning in the development of Vietnam auto industry. Accordingly, the technical plastic transfer technologies to manufacture high quality exterior and interior components will be upgraded on par with ASEAN and Asia countries; mastering the technology, shortening the level of auto design and manufacture compared with the world, specifically ASEAN and South Korea; training specialized research officials and engineers in terms of calculating simulation, auto design, component fabrication and localization, mastering industrial technologies; developing high end sleeper buses in Vietnam, increasing the local contents to 53%.
