Earlier, as the media have reported, Mazda announced the recall of more than 200,000 Mazda3 and Mazda6 cars in North America due to improper handbrake operation. The recall message will be sent to the car owners by Mazda, after which the replacement of the handbrake system will take place on 21 August. Since late last year, the Japanese automaker has sold 450,000 Mazda3 and Mada6 cars, including 227,814 vehicles in this recall.

According to Mazda Japan, the cause of the handbrake system faults is due to the fact that during use, water enters the hydraulic piston system and low temperature will create a thin layer of ice around the drive shaft of the hydraulic piston system.

If this process occurs regularly and in a long time, it will cause the hydraulic piston system to rust, resulting in the hand brake system be jammed or not producing sufficient force. For such reason, the car can roll down when parking in slope areas. Technical experts in Japan also explained that rust is common in low temperatures and freezing water.

Accordingly, the Mazda Group of Japan has officially informed and confirmed the models manufactured, assembled and distributed by THACO in the Vietnam market, including: Mazda3 produced from 2014 to 2016 and Mazda6 from 2014 to 2015 are is not under the impacts of the ongoing recall campaign.
