THADICO President attends HIFF 2024's closing ceremony
The 1st Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival (HIFF 2024) culminated on April 13 with a closing ceremony and awards gala held at the Ho Chi Minh City Theater.
Attending the program were Mr. Nguyen Van Nen, Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Mr. Phan Van Mai, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. Representing THACO, THADICO President Nguyen Hoang Tue presented the award for Best Short Film at the ceremony.
The HIFF 2024 unfolded over eight days, from April 6 to 13, featuring 73 events, 14 inspiring conferences and discussions, and 10 specialized classes. Nearly 200 international guests added their expertise to the event. The event showcased nearly 90 films from a multitude of countries, including Japan, South Korea, China, and France, offering audiences a rich tapestry of cultural experiences and a wide range of genres. The festival drew an audience of 250,000, with over 20,000 film enthusiasts actively attending screenings.
THACO played a key role in the festival's success. Its sponsorship included essential event items at Cine Park Thu Thiem in Saigon Riverfront Park, the venue for a series of film conferences and seminars hosted in Thiskyhall Sala, and notably, a fleet of 80 luxury cars from prestigious brands like BMW, Peugeot, Mazda, and Kia – all manufactured, assembled, and distributed by THACO AUTO, its automotive Sub-holding – ensuring comfortable and stylish transportation for guests and artists throughout the festival.

At the closing ceremony, HIFF 2024 presented awards for excellence in various categories, including Best Script, Design, Sound, Cinematography, Editing, and Special Effects. The title of Ho Chi Minh City Movie was awarded to "Song Lang," directed by Leon Quang Le. The festival also saw international collaboration take center stage, with "Last Shadow at First Light," a co-production between Singapore, Japan, and Slovenia, impressively garnering four awards.
