THACO executives attend Opening Ceremony of TNSV THACO Cup 2025
On December 28, at Ton Duc Thang University Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, THACO President Pham Van Tai attended the opening ceremony of the 3rd Vietnam Student Football Tournament - TNSV THACO Cup 2025.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet, Secretary of the Central Youth Union and President of the Vietnam National Union of Students, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Vu, Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Mr. Nguyen Nam Nhan, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Toan, Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper and Head of the Organizing Committee, along with 28 football teams and their supporters.
In his address, Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet expressed: "We hope this tournament will meet both scale and quality expectations, thereby selecting the best candidates for the Vietnamese student team to participate in Southeast Asian friendly matches."
The opening matches were between the defending champions, Ho Chi Minh City University of Physical Education and Sports, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport, and between Bach Khoa Saigon College and University of Finance - Marketing. The teams enthusiastically delivered impressive performances and created numerous scoring opportunities. The Bach Khoa Saigon College team won 2-1 against the University of Finance and Marketing, while the Ho Chi Minh City University of Physical Education and Sports team lost to the Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport with a score of 0-2.
By supporting the tournament, THACO aims not only to create a sports playground but also to foster unity and resilience among students, contributing to building a dynamic, creative, and flexible young generation in Vietnam.
The TNSV THACO Cup 2025’s qualification rounds include six groups with 66 teams, competing regionally from December 28, 2024, to January 18, 2025. Eleven winning teams will join the host team, Ton Duc Thang University, in the finals from March 1 to March 16, 2025. Notably, after this tournament, the organizers will host the International Student Football Tournament 2025 – THACO Cup, featuring six teams divided into two groups, playing a round-robin format. The championship team will receive a prize of $6,000, the runner-up will get $4,000, and the third-place team will earn $2,000. The tournament is scheduled to take place from March 24 to April 1, 2025, at the Ton Duc Thang University football field in Ho Chi Minh City. This is the first time Vietnam is hosting an international football event for students. |
