On October 31, Chu Lai Port successfully handled over 1,000 TEUs of goods from the SITC HAINAN vessel, marking its 70th ship of the month and setting October as the port’s busiest month with the highest cargo throughput so far in 2024.

In October, the port processed nearly 500,000 tons of cargo, a 27% increase from the previous month. This included containerized goods, bulk cargo, oversized items, liquids, and gases. The primary sources of these goods were businesses in industrial and economic parks such as Bac Chu Lai, Tam Thang (Quang Nam), Dung Quat, VSIP (Quang Ngai), and regions like Vietnam’s Central Highlands, Southern Laos, and Northern Cambodia. Notably, bulk exports, including wood pellets, wood chips, and minerals, saw an over 25% spike compared to September.

In September, Chu Lai Port had put into operation its berth No.2, extending 365 meters, which now allows it to accommodate five large cargo ships simultaneously and has increased ship operation frequency.
