Chu Lai Port's 50,000-ton terminal is ready to operate with new technology
To meet the increasing import and export demand in Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands, since mid-2022, THILOGI has expanded and upgraded the warehouse and container yard system at Chu Lai Port, especially building a new terminal to welcome 50,000-ton ships.
Specifically, THILOGI coordinates with THADICO to construct and build the new terminal. The logistics corporation also works with THACO INDUSTRIES and Doosan Group (Quang Ngai) to manufacture and install new equipment. After more than a year of implementation, the projects have achieved the following achievements:
Warehouse and yard expansion
THILOGI has opened warehouses 8A, 6A and 7A on an area of 33,600 square meters, and container yard 3A on 28,000 square meters. In the coming time, Chu Lai Port and THADICO will build warehouses No. 8, No. 6 and 7 which are expected to be put into use by September and December 2023. The warehouses are undergoing floor construction. By the end of 2023, the port's warehouse system will span 179,500 square meters and the container yard will be 91,400 square meters.
50,000-ton terminal
In addition to the ongoing construction, by the end of August, the new terminal is also equipped with 2 STS gantry cranes and 3 RTG frame cranes. STS and RTG are smart crane systems commonly used in large seaports, delivering twice the efficiency of the existing Liebherr cranes, helping to optimize container and goods handling time.
Recruit qualified employees, get ready to receive new technology
To ensure effective operation with modern equipment systems and new technology, Chu Lai Port has arranged skilled personnel to attend training courses on new equipment operation. Specifically, employees learned and practiced crane operations at large seaports such as Cai Mep - Thi Vai New Port in Vung Tau. The staff also received practical training at the units to understand the structure, operating principles and technical requirements in equipment maintenance and operation. Other incoming training courses on new technologies will be held for staff in times to come.
