Chu Lai port is approved as Class-1 seaport

Chu Lai port in Quang Nam province, under THILOGI, THACO's logistics subsidiary on Sep. 22 was approved as Class-1 seaport (national level, regional logistics hub) from a class-2 seaport (local general port) by the Government. Thanks to the upgraded classification, Chu Lai port is now one of the 15 Class-1 seaports, among the total 36 ports across Vietnam.

Chu Lai port is approved as Class-1 seaport

To upgrade Chu Lai port to the scale of a Class-1 seaport, Quang Nam Province has approved master plans and project's estimates for the port towards 2030, aiming to turn it into a domestic and international logistics hub in central Vietnam and the Central Highlands regions, and an entry to the East Sea for ​​Vietnam (the Central Highlands), Southern Laos, Northeast Cambodia and Thailand.

Chu Lai Port owns a favorable geographical location which 
connects with different industrial parks and regions.

Chu Lai Port was put into operation in May 2012, with a capacity of 4 million tons/year.

Chu Lai Port has cooperated with many major shipping lines and connects with international maritime routes to improve its import/export volumes.

As a result, the provincial People's Committee requested the leaderships of the local economic zones and industrial parks to work with THILOGI toward opening Cua Lo channel, and Chu Lai port to complete legal files to upgrade and expand the port in accordance with the Government's approval.

Warehouses at the port span ​​more than 167,000m2, qualifying the international standards for construction.

THILOGI, based on the province's approvals and plan has invested in expanding 365 meters downstream for the wharf to receive 50,000-DWT vessels, and keeps on upgrading its infrastructure, loading/unloading equipment to meet the increasing import and export needs of local firms in central Vietnam.
