THACO’s Truong Hai Star 3 vessel successfully rescued 9 crew members in distress from An Phu 868 vessel in coastal Binh Thuan waters and brough them onshore safely.

Earlier, around 10:08 a.m. on July 5, 2018, An Phu 868 vessel with 2,041 DWT owned by Hong Ha Shipping Company Limited was transporting goods from An Giang Province to northern Hai Phong City when it hit the shallow ground and broke in the waters of Phan Thiet (Binh Thuan Province). At that time, there were nine crew members on the ship. The sinking vessel issued an emergency signal to the Hai Phong coastal communications station but later lost contact.

Upon receiving the emergency signal, the National Search and Rescue Center sent out requests to vessels operating in the same area of the An Phu 868 to seek and assist the affected ship. At that time, the Truong Hai Star 3 was on its way from Saigon Port to Chu Lai Port. After receiving information from the ports of Binh Thuan and Vung Tau, the THACO ship promptly returned to find a way to approach the ship in distress.

Thirty minutes later, the Truong Hai Star 3 approached the An Phu 868 and successfully delivered the latter’s 9 crew members onboard safely.

Later in the afternoon, the Truong Hai Star 3 took the 9 rescued seamen to Chu Lai Port. Authorities from the Ky Ha Port Border Checkpoint and the Quang Nam Ports Authority together with Chu Lai Port and Chu Lai - Truong Hai Shipping Company took care of the victims and praised the captain as well as the crew members of the Truong Hai Star 3 for the good act.
